FAQs
Before you book, make sure our sauna experience is right for you.

Saunas are a wonderful experience and are used by people of all health and fitness levels.

Please be aware of the following information and use your own judgement to decide whether it is suitable for you and to keep yourself from potential harm.

How do I book?   

Book your session online via the booking page on this site or pay on arrival without booking via SumUp (booking a seat will avoid disappointment).

What should I bring?

Bring a towel, swimwear footwear that is easy to remove. As it is barefoot in the sauna.

 

What are the facilities? We have 2 changing tents and screened off areas for privacy and relaxation pre and post sauna.

What is the age requirement?

Children from the age of 6 are allowed. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. maximum 2 child per adult please.

Where is the sauna located?

It is located in various locations please see booking pages for details.

Do you offer gift vouchers? Yes via or booking page.

What are the health benefits? 

 

The sauna is known to improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress, help with sleep, and improve skin, especially when paired with a cold dip. Short term mental health benefits include feeling invigorated and energised.

How hot does the sauna get?

Sauna temperatures should be between 70-90c and our sauna is no different with temperatures typically being between 80-90c 

What are the guidelines for sauna sessions?

Hygiene - enter the sauna clean; please shower before hand and don't apply lotions prior to the session

Politeness - ask others before Löyly, sit on the towel provided and respect others' quietness

No phones - in a world governed by mobile phones enjoy time without them - safe storage is available outside the sauna

Maintain temperature - close the door straight after entry/exit to keep cold air entering the sauna

Remove metal jewellery -  avoid it heating up and burning your skin

Stove awareness - stay away from all parts of the stove and put water on the stones from back to front using the wooden ladle only

Health Notice

Use of the sauna is done at your own risk. We ask that you contact your GP if at all in doubt about safely using the sauna.

If any of the below apply to you (please note, this is not a comprehensive list) we advise you to seek your GP’s advice: -

  • If you're pregnant

  • If you've had a heart attack or stroke

  • If you're taking any medications

  • If you have cardiovascular conditions and/or problems

  • You have epilepsy

  • You have asthma or breathing conditions

  • High or low blood pressure

  • If you have arterial disease

  • If you have joint or muscle injury

  • Suffer from any condition whatsoever that makes you unsure as to the advisability of using sauna.

Sauna Etiquette

Sauna is a great fun activity, but please be respectful of other customers and staff. We reserve the right to request your removal if we feel it is necessary, for example if we suspect you are intoxicated or other reason that may cause a health and safety concern.

 

  • Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.

  • Please bring towels, plenty of water to drink, and wear suitable bathing clothes and beach-type shoes.

  • Although Finns generally do not wear clothes in the sauna, this is not the case in England so please wear appropriate swimwear in either private or communal sessions. Nudity is not permitted.

  • To prevent burning, remove jewellery.

  • Remove footwear before entering the sauna and wear footwear outside of the sauna.

  • You must use a towel to sit on the sauna benches. 2 towels are best (one to sit and one to dry off if necessary)

  • No liquids or products are to be brought into the sauna.

  • No smoking or vaping will be permitted.

  • There will be an area to leave your property outside of the sauna but this is left at your own risk.

  • Stay in the sauna for no longer than 20 min at a time (we recommend 5-15 min sessions)

  • Children aged 6 – 16 years are welcome in a privately hired sauna only. We regret that they cannot join our communal sessions. They must be accompanied at all times. by an adult family member/guardian. The ratio of 1 adult to a maximum of 2 children.

  • A paper copy of a waiver must be signed on site by the adult stating the relationship between the parent/guardian and the minor.

 

If you are making a booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make all users aware of the terms and conditions and sauna etiquette to practice safe sauna use, as well as making others aware of what to bring and other useful information.
